Conservatories

There are a number of benefits to having a conservatory added to your home. One of the main benefits people enjoy is that it can greatly increase the value of your home or property. Therefore, without hearing any of the other benefits, there’s probably reason enough to have a new conservatory installed.
Another benefit of adding a conservatory to your home is that it will give you more space than you had before. In fact, the word conservatory is derived from the Italian language and translates to, ‘a place for storage’. This of course isn’t to say you should have a conservatory added for storage space, which brings us to another great benefit – the ample size of a conservatory makes it flexible to use the room in any way you’d like, perhaps; a gym, an office, a sitting area etc.
Warm Roof
An increasingly popular roof for the conservatory these days is the light weight tiled ‘warm roof’. The tiles chosen are generally the closest colour to match the roof on the home. The structure of a warm roof can be either timber or aluminium. The increasingly popular Warm Roof, as the name suggests, is a more energy efficient option due to the insulation in the roof system. Additionally, the tiled/slate finish makes it aesthetically pleasing with the tiles matching the colour of your house roof as closely as possible. This roof means that the conservatory is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter making it usable throughout the year. Beneath a layer of light weight tile there is a waterproof membrane which covers a layer of plywood. Beneath this plywood there is insulation. The roof construction is of treated timbers, selected to be strong enough to support the structure. The innermost layer is actually insulated plasterboard which is plastered on finishing meaning that you have a much neater finish to the interior when compared to a polycarbonate/glass roof.
Not only are there the benefits above but of course there is the added aesthetic value to your home when you choose to invest in a conservatory. If, like most people, you choose to opt for quite a plain frame colour, such as white, it can make it feel as though the garden is an extension of your home. This makes a conservatory a wonderful place to sit and relax after a long day, especially during the summer months.
